Castle Trauttmansdorff, erstwhile winter residence of the Empress Sissi, is today better known as South Tyrol’s best-loved destination for a day out. The southern climate has allowed the creation of a 12 hectare sea of flowers and plants within its walls, along the eastern outskirts of Meran. Plants from all over the world lie alongside typical South Tyrol countryside, walkways, water garden, terrace garden and Garden of the Senses, cactus and succulents mound bewitch from outside the gardens. Inside you will find Touriseum, the tourism museum.
